By allowing shadows to actively and passively engage in the world, Lionhearts never sleeps. The Holy Land and the character within are a permanent part of the world, not just when the players themselves are online to participate.

Character shadowing is the mechanic that drives the continued functioning of the Lionhearts economy and greater world. This mechanic allows many other game systems to operate and thrive without active player participation and presence at all times. Players set up tasks for their shadow to complete while they are away or offline through primary and secondary task setting. You can set a primary task (repeated) and a secondary task (event based). The shadow will repeat these tasks until interrupted.
Shadows will allow the player's character to exist and perform key duties in the desired role while they are away. From baking bread, attending a battle or performing an absolution, tasks can be given and performed by shadows while players are away. Shadows can also be spoken to and interacted with through preset personalities and responses set by the character’s player.
